Who We Are

We Write Curriculum is an education publishing and curriculum development company specializing in research-aligned, assessment-ready English Language Arts (ELA) and civics passages and instructional resources.

Our work intentionally bridges classroom instruction and large-scale assessment needs. We design materials that reflect how students are expected to read, analyze, and respond to text in both instructional and assessment contexts. Our resources are developed to support effective instruction while also meeting the rigor, alignment, and text-quality expectations required by assessment programs.

What We Do

We Write Curriculum develops assessment-ready reading passages and literacy materials that align to academic standards and assessment frameworks.

Our offerings include:
– Standards-aligned ELA passages
– Civics and social studies literacy texts
– Assessment-ready informational and literary passages
– Text-dependent questions and aligned tasks
– Bell ringers and daily literacy supports
– Instructional readers developed with assessment expectations in mind

All passages are developed with careful attention to grade-level text complexity, academic vocabulary, coherence, and purpose, making them suitable for both classroom instruction and assessment use.

Assessment-Ready Passage Development

A core focus of We Write Curriculum is the development of high-quality passages designed for assessment use.

Our passages are:
– Written to specified grade-level text complexity expectations
– Designed to support close reading and analytical thinking
– Aligned to academic standards and assessment constructs
– Appropriate for selected-response and constructed-response items
– Developed with clarity, neutrality, and attention to bias and sensitivity

We understand the importance of text quality, consistency, and alignment in assessment development and design our passages accordingly.

Passage Catalog and Custom Development

We Write Curriculum maintains a catalog of assessment-ready passages available for purchase and licensing. These passages may be used in instructional materials, practice assessments, field tests, and other assessment-related contexts.

In addition to our existing catalog, we offer custom passage development services.
We can:
– Develop original passages based on client-provided text specifications
– Align texts to specific grade levels, standards, and frameworks
– Write to assessment program requirements, including genre, purpose, and complexity
– Collaborate with curriculum and assessment teams to ensure alignment and usability

Our custom development process is designed to integrate smoothly into established assessment workflows.

Instructional and Assessment Alignment

We believe effective instruction and valid assessment are closely connected.

Our resources are designed to:
– Support instructional clarity while meeting assessment expectations
– Reflect authentic reading and thinking demands
– Prepare students for assessment tasks without teaching to the test
– Reinforce transferable literacy skills across instructional and assessment settings
This approach allows our materials to function effectively in classrooms, curriculum programs, and assessment systems.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide educators and assessment partners with clear, research-aligned, and assessment-ready literacy resources that support instruction, measure student understanding, and maintain high standards of quality and rigor.
